The Style Class - A Skillshare Class

This is a personal project I completed for a Skillshare class by Tom Froese called The Style Class. As a new illustrator, it can be difficult to settle in on a style. I wanted to desperately to “find” it. They key, though I think, is to let it find you. The Style Class project is to choose a theme and then decide on 26 keywords and use those as prompts for illustrations. I love nature, mystical and mythical creature so I chose the theme “Who you might meet on a walk through the forest”.

This project really helped me to start getting comfortable with my style and it also helped me develop a better sense of colour and colour values. By no means perfect, but better. Some pieces I love. Some not so much. I was tempted to go back and rework some of my first pieces but I decided to let it be and allow myself to use what I learned for future work.

Please scroll on down to view the entire set of twenty six pieces.
